I was a student of Prof Widom in 2005 when I first joined UCSC as a Math graduate student. He left a lasting impression as both a mathematician and a gentleman. I have very much to thank him for my Math career and beyond. My most sincere condolences to the family.

I was a student of Professor Widom in the 1980s, and I have now been a math professor myself for nearly 30 years. Harold Widom was by far one of the greatest influences on my development as a student. I was so pleased and proud as I followed his accomplishments even after his retirement. It was an absolute honor and pleasure to be one of his students. He was a very good man and an inspiring teacher.

It is so very sad that Harold succumbed to this devastating Covid Virus.
He was such a intelligent man, and shared his knowledge through his teaching career.
He enjoyed life and his family.
So very sorry for your profound loss.
