Lupe Barba Avila passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, her 50th birthday, in Watsonville.
Mrs. Avila has lived in Watsonville all of her life. She was a spunky and enthusiastic person with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved watching movies and spending time with her family especially her children. Most of all she will be remembered for her generous spirit. She didn't have much but what she did, she gave all.
Mrs. Avila is survived by her children, Joshua (Samantha) Barba of Los Banos and Christina Garcia of Aptos; parents, Romulo and Anita Barba of Watsonville; brothers, Alberto and Juan Barba of Watsonville and Samuel Barba of San Jose; sister, Alicia (David) Rodriguez of Salinas; former longtime partner, Rudy Garcia and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Avila.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to assist in the funeral expenses and can be paid directly to Mehl's Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville, CA 95076 or call (831) 724-6371 for more information.
Visitation will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel on Thursday, 5-9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. A mass will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Pajaro. Burial will follow atValley Public Cemetery.
