Mabel French Obituary

Mabel Lohse French
Nov 1, 1928 - April 13, 2014
Resident of Aptos
Mabel was born on November 1st, 1928 in Artois, CA and died April 13th 2014, at the age of 85. Mabel had a wonderful childhood growing up with 7 brothers and sisters in the small Northern California town of Artois. She attended Armstrong College in Berkeley, where she met the love of her life, Warren, who she married in 1948. Together, Mabel and Warren and their 3 young sons moved to Santa Cruz and founded Las Animas Concrete in 1964. Mabel ran the office for over 30 years before she retired. In honor of Mabel, Las Animas Concrete Santa Cruz and Marina will be closed on Thursday April 24th.
Mabel was an amazing woman with a generous heart. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, knitting and needlepoint, and she cherished spending time with her loving family. Mabel's spirit was stronger than her disease, and she came to peace with having Parkinson's because she knew she'd had a wonderful life; she had the happiest childhood she could imagine, spent 57 years with her beloved husband, and has left behind her a thriving, happy family.
Mabel is survived by her three sons, Steve, Tom, and Scott; daughters in law Laura and Margaret; grandchildren Garrett, Jason, Kyle, Tyler, Casey, Emily, and Justine; five spouses of her grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren, with two more on the way. She will be greatly missed by all of those left behind, but we know she is in a better place and we will all meet again someday.
Memorial Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church of Aptos at 11 am Thursday April 24th, reception to follow at Seascape Resort. Donations in Mabel's name can be sent to: Christ Lutheran Church, PO Box 394 Aptos CA 95001, or a charity of your choosing.

A Note to Mabel: You are an inspiration to me...especially each time I watched you hang your laundry and work in your yard... independently keeping your home, both inside and out, meticulous. I am sorry to have missed seeing you lately. Please know you were, and always will remain, in a special place in my heart. Your happy and interesting self are missed here, but your spirit lives on. Please give my Mom a big hug for me...Now you girls will have the very best view of our Giants! Thank You for your friendship and may God's Blessings surround your after-glow.
Our condolences to your family.
With caring thoughts and prayers,
Lynn Ponzini and Family

“Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear." Mabel (and Warren) will always hold a special place in my memories. Wishing your family hope in the midst of sorrow and comfort in the midst of pain. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
