Margaret Jansen Obituary

Margaret Jansen
March 1, 1923
December 29, 2012
Resident of Capitola, CA
Margaret Jones Jansen passed away peacefully on December 29, 2012 surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born on March 1, 1923 in Wednesbury, England to Charles and Elizabeth Foster.
She was a teenager during WWII and volunteered for the Fire Brigade. She met her husband, Henri Jansen, at a local dance. He was a soldier for the Dutch Free Forces and stationed near
by. After the war she moved to the Netherlands where she lived for the next 12 years. She immigrated to Oakland, California in 1957 and later moved to Walnut Creek. She worked for a group home and at the College of Arts and Crafts as an Administrative Assistant. In 1993 she
moved to Aptos to be closer to some of her children.
Margaret is survived by her six children, Suzanne Shaw of Ben Lomond, Margaret Vodicka of Grass Valley, Vincent Jansen of Sparta, Missouri, Michael Jansen of Burlington, Washington,
Nora Jansen of Oakdale, Sonja Massey of Pacific Grove, and her 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Henri Jansen, and her eldest daughter, Elizabeth Stockbridge, along with two of her granddaughters.
Margaret devoted all of her time to her family. She loved being close to the ocean, tea time, reading, handwork, cooking, and family celebrations.
The family would like to express a special thank you and gratitude for all the kind and loving care our mother received by the staff at Sunshine Villa for almost nine years, and to the staff at Pacific Coast Manor and Hospice of Santa Cruz County for the past four months.
A private cremation and scattering of her ashes over the Monterey Bay is arranged under the direction of Pacific Gardens Chapel. Contributions are preferred to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
