Miriam London Oppenheimer, 98, of Wyomissing, PA (formerly of Brooklyn, NY and Westin, FL) died of natural causes on February 23, 2015 just four weeks shy of her 99th birthday. She resided at The Highlands of Wyomissing, PA since 2003. She was the widow of the late Donald R. Oppenheimer, Sr. who died in 1998 with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
Born March 24, 1916 and raised in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Katherine (Stein) London. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Claire (London) Aiello.
Mrs. Oppenheimer earned a certificate in Advertising Art from Pratt Institute of Art, Brooklyn, NY. Three generations of London/Oppenheimer families had been members of Union Temple, Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY. Miriam was devoted to her family and family life.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Oppenheimer (wife Yvonne), Wyomissing, PA and John Oppenheimer (wife Merry), Aptos, CA, four grandsons, Richard F., Needham, MA, Karl L. of Amenia, NY, Michael B. and David S., both of Aptos, CA. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Andrew (wife Susan) of Chicago, IL, Bryan, Needham , MA and Hannah, NYC, NY. Other survivors include a nephew, James Aiello of Southwest Ranches, FL and two nieces, Marie Aiello, of Clermont, FL and Mary Ann Oppenheimer-Fishbein, Franklin, MA. The Family gratefully acknowledges Miriam's special team of angles, caretakers Joan, Sharon, Carol, and Donna, as well as all the staff at the Highlands and the Hospice Staff from Lutheran Home Care & Hospice Inc.
Memorial services for family and friends will be held March 15, 2015 in Pennsylvania for family and friends. Gallman Sonoski Funeral Home is handling final arrangements.
