Randall Evans Nelson
October 9, 1944 - August 21, 2021
Educator / Friend
Our dear sweet Randall died at home Saturday, August 21, 2021. Randall leaves behind his wife, Aimee, son Joshua, dearly loved daughter-in-law Andrea, granddaughter Zephyrine, sister Marsha and many cherished extended family and friends. Randall was predeceased by his daughter Jessie and his brother Chris. Born in Pensacola, Florida to Marshall and Pearl Nelson, Randall grew up sailing the Gulf. In 1962 he met Aimee on a seawall in front of their newly formed college in St. Petersburg, Fla, which was located on the Baybaro Harbor Maritime Base, and fondly known as Old Campus. They moved to California in 1968, settling in Santa Cruz 2 years later. Randall taught in the Scotts Valley School District from 1970 to 2000.
Along with Aimee, Randall owned and ran the Tea House Spa in downtown Santa Cruz, starting in 1997. Randall's favorite activities included shelling crabs, grilling ribs, reading "intelligent" books and encouraging young people.
Special thanks for all the camaraderie and thoughtfulness Randall received during his 77 years.
