Scotts Valley
It is with deep sadness that the Scott's family announces the passing of Ray Scott on August 4, 2021, at the age of 94. Ray was born on April 26, 1927, in Los Gatos, California. In his youth, Ray set traplines for bobcat, fox, and raccoons around Los Gatos Creek, the flume, and the towns of Alma and Lexington which is now Lexington Reservoir. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all forms of hunting, fishing, and camping. He graduated from Los Gatos Union High in 1945, then shortly after joined the Navy during World War II and was discharged from active duty in 1946 then returned to live in Santa Cruz near Woods Lagoon. In 1958, Ray married his love Sharon on July 26th in Carson City, Nevada.
Ray and Sharon were avid travelers and campers. They traveled and explored while working all over the western half of the United States and Canada collecting amazing stories to share with all before buying their lot in Whispering Pines and building their home. Shortly thereafter, started their family of three boys, David Ray, Dan Douglas, and Steven Mason Scott, and instilled in them the love of hunting, fishing, and camping as they vacationed as a family making wonderful memories. Ray was a Captain of the Volunteer Fire Department of Scotts Valley in the '60s & '70s along with a Volunteer Coach for the Baseball & Basketball teams of Scotts Valley in the 70's. Ray retired from Granite Construction in 1989 after working 29 years with them all the while instilling in his boys (which transcended to his grandchildren), the adventure for hunting, fishing, camping, and life. He filled the lives of all who know him with love, happiness, and wonderfully detailed stories of his adventures. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon in 2017. Ray will be forever remembered by his sister, children, and their wives, Gloria Ward (San Jose, CA) Dave & Ann Scott (Boulder Creek, CA) Dan & Sherri Scott (Scotts Valley, CA.), and Steven & Misty Scott (Santa Cruz, CA). Ray will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) Storment, Trent Scott, Maddi Scott, Hunter Scott, and his great-grandchild Wes Storment, along with all those that were fortunate enough to have spent time with Ray. The family requests that you spend quality time exploring the grand outdoors with the ones you love and create enduring adventures and lifelong relationships for now and beyond. That is what Ray would have wished.
