Resident of Scotts Valley
Robert Richard Scott died unexpectedly on July 11 in Scotts Valley. "Scotty", as he was known to his friends, was well known in the Scotts Valley area, its stores, shops, and eateries, where he walked daily with his beloved Doberman pets, especially Fang and Captain Morgan.
Scotty was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Robert R. Scott and Gertrude Hunting Scott, but was raised in Southern California. While still a high school student during World War II he enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Forces Reserves, and served his country proudly. He then worked as an Aero Space Engineer at Lockheed, having moved to Felton, and commuted to Sunnyvale and back each day. He received several awards there prior to his retirement, including "Employee of the Month". On his retirement he moved to Montevalle Mobile Home Park in Scotts Valley.
His favorite activities were long walks with his dogs, and helping his friends any way he could. He is survived by those friends, his children Hiedi A. Scott, Yvette Scott, Nancy E. Scott, Susan M. Scott, Jon R. Scott, grandchildren Michelle Scott and Jonathan Scott, and his dog Captain Jackson.
A memorial service for Scotty and celebration of his life will be conducted at Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz, on Saturday, July 27, at 10:00 a.m. Donations in his memory to the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter, and the Senior Centers in Ben Lomond and Scotts Valley, are suggested.

Dearest Scotty,
I'll miss my friend of over 30 years. I lived in Felton and I use to commute with Scotty to Lockheed on a Mercedes bus with fellow employees of Lockheed. I will miss him. He was an icon...always seen around town walking his dog. He was easy going and fun loving ;-) I will remember you always. Love Nancy Bird
