Thelma Ikard Roth entered into rest August 29, 2007 in Scotts Valley, CA after courageously confronting kidney and heart disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Willard Bill Roth Jr., and is survived by their 5 children George Ann Robert White, Willard III, Tom Marita, Karl Kim, and John Katharine, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Thelma was born in Memphis, TN on September 22, 1926 to George and Ethel Ikard. She grew up in Memphis through her graduation from Memphis Technical High School. Soon thereafter she met Bill, they married on September 21, 1946, and lived in numerous places including Vermont and New York before settling in San Jose.
Over her years Thelma's varied interests included friends and family, Bible study, bowling, playing bridge, supporting her children's sports teams, pampering her pet dogs, camping and fishing at San Jose Family Camp, cruise ship travel, and being a San Jose Sharks fan. She also enjoyed her occasional slot machine, lottery, and horse racing wagers.
Thelma is best remembered as a caring, generous, and humble soul whose life was guided by her Christian beliefs and family values. For most of her life she was a full time wife and mother who would sacrifice selflessly for her family and was eager to share with those less fortunate. Many of her recent years were spent as a caregiver for family members, and she now rightfully transcends into the care of her Lord.
A viewing will be held from 9:00-11:00a.m. on Tuesday September 4 at Lima Family-Erickson Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service and reception starting at 11:30a.m. at Willow Glen Methodist Church. Interment will be at 3:00p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Grandma,
I feel so lucky to have grown up living so close to you. The memories I have of my time with you will stay with me forever -- vacations (cruises, Hawaii, San Jose Family Camp, house boating), pool parties, BINGO games, Christmas at your house, Sharks games, horse races, sleepover weekends, shopping, and simply just hanging out around the house. You were more than just a Grandma to me. You were a friend as well. I miss you so much but know that I will someday see you in heaven. I love you.
Love,
Katie

Gram, I wrote this for you the night before you went to be with Jesus and I just wanted you to hear it...
I grew up without you around
And now I want you more than ever,
The way you laugh
And the way you smiled at me.
You were always there for me,
Christmas, birthdays, anytime.
Just to hear your voice
And know that you cared.
Honey, I love you
Is what I'd always hear you say.
You never knew what that means to me
And its always in my heart to stay.
You're everything to me,
More than a grandma,
More than a visit in the summer,
You were a friend to me.
You were someone I looked up to,
Someone I could count on,
Someone who loved me no matter what.
You are and will always be
Everythng to me.
I love you Gram and I hope you liked it.

Gram Gram, You're the best. No words can even begin to express how much I love you. I can't believe so much time has passed by. You left me some of the greatest memories of my life and I thank you for that. You always brought a smile to my face and I never got tired of your "World Famous Sandwiches". I'll always miss that. Nothing will be the same without you. Your strength and beauty shone though everythng you did. I admire and look up to you. I think about you everyday. Gram, I miss you beyond words, but I know you're in a better place and I can't wait to someday see you there.
Love, Your Kayla Girl <3
