Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I have some life updates that I wish I could share with you in person: I graduated from nursing school in 2024, and I'll be earning my Bachelor's in Nursing this June 2025. I also married an incredible man in June 2024, someone I know you would have loved (he´s an avid hunter). He´s an amazing stepfather to Ryan and will soon be a father to our little one arriving this April-another baby boy whose nursery theme is Mallard ducks, a small tribute to you. I miss you everyday and know you'd be proud of how far I have come.

Grandpa where do I begin, I miss every single day, not a day goes by that I don´t think about your classic jokes, your loving support and your smile. I remember the excitement I would get seeing you and grandma pulling up to Gildas, I was and am so proud to be your grand daughter. I am doing as you told me to continuing school, bettering myself, and building a future for myself and Ryan. I see your face and humor in so many people. Everytime I see a mallard duck I think of you and I look up to the heavens and tell you " I miss you, and I wish you were here" I have found myself collecting duck items just as you loved. I look back on the cute videos I took of you laughing, and the cute pictures you and I would take together, I miss you force feeding me bananas even though I hate bananas but as you called them they are "brain food" so before every exam I force myself to eat a banana.
I am thriving and loving Washington, being here suits me, the mountains, the river the cold winters and the hot summers, this is my home, and I wish you could see it.
Your great grandson Ryan is happy and healthy and is now 4 foot 5 inches and is almost as tall as I am. He is unbelievably smart and loves to read, and excels in math and science. Ryan´s hobbies aside from reading history stories is studying the stars and galaxies. He says he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up. And I don´t ever doubt that won´t chase his dreams, he would make you proud, another one of your brilliant pupils.
I miss you every day, and I promise to make you & grandma proud.

I have so many happy memories with dad, but the ones that I remember most are the father son hunting trips we took along with my uncles on the ranch. Dad always had my back. He stressed to all us kids the importance and strength of home ownership and family. Dad taught me what responsibility was and instilled in me the awareness of how important my actions and words were and their impact on the family and others. My dad always had our best interests at heart. He was a great father and I continue to miss him very much.

Just a glimpse of your picture and the sadness begins to seep into knowing a profound loss I feel. Just wishing to see you again. Grief shows us how much we loved you.

I feel like the luckiest Son in the world to have been raised by my Dad! He taught us right from wrong. He held me accountable for my report card. He enrolled me in extra and special classes that proved very necessary later on in life. I would go to him with problems and questions and he always had the best answer. He made sure we had our swimming lessons while we were very young. He could always see dangerous situations and warn us ahead of time. He childproofed our home and lives. We would play poker together every night on pokerstars.com. He would get a kick out of cleaning me out and telling me to go get some more chips and come back! I miss him and love him! Thank you Dad!

HI Dad,
Miss you . You stepped in the roll of being a father who was there to help us and make sure that we succeeded. You supported our journey as we grew and helped us out when we needed help. We are proud to be your children. Now as grown adults, you can say you were proud of our successes in life. Your grandchildren love you and your great grandchildren . Averi is continuing being a good mother and student and hard worker on her job. She misses you Dad a lot. You would be so proud of Averi's son Ryan who remembers you and would always crawl up and want to kiss your cheek. He is so smart as well as your great granddaughter Olivia. You were always proud and joyful of Sara who you helped raise and made sure she lacked for nothing. Your reputation with many who have met you always had a good story or joke you told them and they always had something wonderful to say about you.You were well liked and people that knew you only had good things to say about you. Your memory is in the hearts of us all who knew you closely. You were a good husband to mother and made sure she never lacked for anything and even after you are gone.
Love Susie

Hey Grandpa,
I miss you. Sometimes when I am driving home from work and I accomplished something I want to go see you and tell you about it and then remember you aren’t there. I wish you were still here. You are still my favorite.

Suzi,
I remember when we were in high school,we would go to your house after school. The first thing we would see were your parents.
Your mom would be cheerful and say " hi girls!" Your dad would say "Uh oh! What trouble are you girls up to now?" We would laugh and deny it...but he was usually right.
Your dad had strong morals, values and beliefs that he tried to instill in you. I am thankful that some of his teachings rubbed off on to me,growing up.
Your dad was a shrewd man with great insight.
The last time I remember seeing your dad, was at your mom's garage sale during the summer.
The first thing your dad said was "What are you girls up to now?"
It didn't matter if we were 16 or 60, we were girls to him.
I'm going to miss seeing him.
I give you, your mom and family love and prayers for your dad's passing.

Hi John and Susie
My name is Dan Jellison and I have lived in San Diego now since Harbor High school 47 years. When I go to Santa Cruz to see mom I always look for your Dad's real state sign on the front of the old building just down the street from mom's house. I am very sorry for your lose, my dad has been gone 15 years now and I still miss him a lot, it's a hard thing loosing your dad. All I can tell you John and Susie is that each day that passes will get better with time, my sister Deborah made me a picture book of dad and mom made quilts out of his shirts for each of us kids, I love that quilt, I can see him in everyone of those shirt patterns. Anyway are prayers are with you guys.

Dad was a wonderful father who put his family first. He taught us the value of home ownership. We grew up working on his rentals and properties to fix them up. He was very generous to treating my friends to movies or lunch when they came to help us paint a fence or visited.
He often wrote jokes or poems around some special occasion or birthday. He made up jokes on the spot. He would start out serious then all of a sudden we would realize he was making a joke.
Dad took our school work serious. He made sure we did our homework and would want to inspect what we were doing was good. He made sure he went to all our school events.
In his years of decline, he would not complain but lived with the aches and pain. It was only the last few months that he said he was ready to go.
My dad was honest and had integrity. Many of his fellow friends spoke highly of him. He was an Elks member. I remember when we were growing up, he would be picking up some kids that needed new clothes and would take them shopping.
Dad was a very private person and did not want people to see him in his declining state of health. He and his wife Frances loved to eat at Gilda's on the wharf.
I miss you Dad.
Love Susie
