Graveside services will be held in Chowchilla, California, for Willie Hansen who passed away at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, following a lengthy illness. Born in Madera, California to William Teddy Norman and Naldia Lucille Starling, she was raised in Chowchilla. Her father was a farmer, and Lucille worked picking cotton from many of the fields that surrounded the cemetery where her loved ones are now buried. She married her childhood sweetheart. Larry Walker Hansen and three children: Angela, Marty, and LaVern. The youngest of three children, she is survived by her sister Oleta Strandjord.
She moved to Santa Cruz and opened a residential care facility that she operated for 25 years. She was devoted to her Lord Jesus, and made sure that her children attended church and Sunday School to learn about Jesus. She loved her 7 adoring grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren unconditionally; with an extra special place in her heart for her grandson, Martin whom she adopted, and witnessed him to become a strong young man. Lucille diligently drove her grandkids to and from church school, and made sure that they always had a cold drink and something to eat. She often commented that she would not drive any faster than her Angel would take her. She was married for 35 years to her husband Larry, who preceded her in death in 1990. Had he been alive, the couple would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 3rd.
Lucille is survived by her children Angela Poland, Marty Hansen and LaVern Clyatt, her grandchildren: Brian Poland, Lori Alvarado, Michael Clyatt, David Clyatt, Monica Hansen, Martin Hansen and Larry Hansen. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Gracie Clyatt, Scott Clyatt, Gavin Alvarado, Liliana Alvarado, and Gracsen Alvarado.
A graveside ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Chowchilla District Cemetery (23359 Road 14 ½) beginning at 10 a.m.
