BEVERLY Beebe Obituary

BB Beverly aka Beebe, age 94, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020. She was born in Chicago, IL on October 10, 1926 to Leo and Ann Peshkin.
Her Hebrew name is Chayah Beile and she is survived by son, Alan Feldman (aka Water), son Hayyim Feldman, sister Franceska Plusker, grandchildren Harmony McCullough, Sarafina and Vauna-Lee Feldman, great-grandchildren, Cora and Sigrid McCullough.
BB grew up in Chicago's West Side Jewish immigrant neighborhood where she lived through the Depression and national recovery. She moved to Santa Fe, NM, sight unseen, by train in 1970 to join her sons and has lived in Santa Fe ever since. She blessed her family and large circle of friends in the Santa Fe area, as well as total strangers, with her award-winning singing voice, her graceful and energetic dance movements, and the gentle warmth she bestowed upon all who encountered her.
BB attended the College of Santa Fe and was especially proud of the work she did in Chicago for a War on Poverty neighborhood center, and in Santa Fe for an ACLU attorney as well as for the United States Forest Service and the National Audubon Society. As an active member of the Santa Fe Jewish community, BB was a supporting member of the Santa Fe Jewish Community Center (now Temple Beth Shalom) and of Kol BeRamah Torah Learning Center, as well as other prayer and spiritual circles. She was probably most widely known, however, as a laughing, singing dancer at various Santa Fe hotspots, even into her 90s, where she especially enjoyed rock 'n' roll, blues, country, and swing music.
Graveside service will be restricted to family due to the current Pandemic, to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE in Albuquerque, NM.

Dearest Hayyim and Alan, I just found out about your Mother´s passing. I have a nice memory of her when you all lived on Laughlin in Santa Fe. She was always very kind to me.

BB was such a sparkler! I loved my visits with BB at Sierra Vista, and listening to her sing was just pure wonderful. I will miss her fiery and big presence, and feel lucky to have known BB! She was a gift to all.

To H2O, Hayyim and all the Family,
When I first met Beebe at Sierra Vista we were listening to some music and she jumped up to dance. It was so spontaneous and joyful her spirit filled the room. Once I knew we shared a love of music it was easy to know something about her story. We had both lived in Chicago, she on the West Side, me on the South Side, we both loved to walk in Lakeside Park, listen to music in the downtown Jazz Clubs and we both loved Marc Chagall.
To get her attention, I would sing, “You’re the Top, you’re the tower of Pisa, You’re the smile on the Mona Lisa,” and she would grin. She had such a genuine smile and a warmth that was like the sun shining. And I could always get her to smile with a chorus of “I can’t give you anything but love Baby, That’s the only thing I’ve plenty of, Beebe."
Certainly she could be ornery and contrary but that too was part of her charm. She reminded me of my grandmother who had opinions about everything including you, and who was as pointed in her thinking and as generous in her concerns as our shared beloved, Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

I am hoping that your whole family will carry on Beebe’s spirit and traditions. Thank you for sharing her with us. With heartfelt sadness and with love to you all, my condolences, Wendy Cadden.
