Carmella Brennand Obituary

CARMELLA BRENNAND (GALLEGOS) Carmella Brennand (Gallegos), aged 62. Santa Fe, New Mexico. Passed away comfortably at home in Santa Fe on Monday, October 20 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Santa Fe to Juan Gallegos and Dolores Martinez Gallegos. She is survived by her devoted husband and high school sweetheart, Peter Brennand of Santa Fe; daughter Melanie Brennand Mueller and son-in-law Derek Mueller of Medford, Massachusetts. Son Chris Brennand and daughter-in-law Natasha Brennand as well as "her little sunshine" granddaughter, Lily, of Albuquerque. Brother John Gallegos, and sister Lori Gallegos and husband Patrick Gomez, also of Albuquerque. Carmella was amazing, fun-loving, warm and passionate; a loving mother and dedicated friend. She greatly enjoyed gardening and spending time with others. She attended Loretto Academy and later, St. Michael's High School. She worked for various NM State agencies, including the NM Arts Division, and volunteered for several years at the Museum of International Folk Art. A rosary will be held on Sunday, October 26th at 3 p.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel, with a gathering of her beloved friends and family to follow at the family home beginning at 5 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 27th at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe. Interment of remains will immediately follow at Rosario Cemetery. Dear Peter and Family and to Johnny and Lori, what a blow, I can't find the words to say how sad and deeply sorry I was to hear that Carmelita was ill and passed, she was a wonderful person, no matter where I saw her and how long it had been she always had a smile and kind welcoming words. Be comforted that she is in great company and no longer in pain. Be at peace knowing that she is free and no longer suffering, she will always be with you. God Bless you all, Cousin Debbie.

Peter I am so sorry for your families loss. I knew Carmella for as long as I can remember. See was my sisters best friend. I can still see them walking each other home at the end of a day together. Seems they always said bye at that sign on fifth street. Funny the things you remember. Again so sorry for your loss

Dearest Brennand Family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. My heart is so filled with sadness. Carmella was such a sweet, kind and loving person, she had a smile that would light up a room, I will miss her terribly. Carmella and I worked together at the State Transportation Department back in the 70's and then again at the NM Arts Division in the 80's, we were not only co-workers but good friends. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will cherish Carmella's friendship forever. I send you all my love and prayers.
