John was truly one of the "good ones." A true professional . . . And the dearest of friends. Sorely missed.

Still missing you and your laughter, John, although at least you missed the Coronavirus. Some people live on in the hearts and minds of those they knew, because of some force of personality, that many would call the soul.

John's devotion to opera was great, but don't forget he was a true film buff, back to the days he taught Film at San Francisco State. He and I toured Monument Valley in search of John Ford memories. He was a close friend, full of laughter and intelligence.

John's many contributions as SFO Docent and Guild member are well documented.
As VivaVerdi, he contributed scores of opera-related pieces to Wikipedia.
An innovator and tireless agent of change, he enriched all in the SFO extended family.
Last time I saw him, he and Don P. were happily setting up direction signs for a Guild event on a cold and snowy evening.
My condolences to Judi and to all his loved ones.

John Webber was a strong dedicated and impressive leader. His enthusiasm and forthright drive was not always understood by his peers or co-workers. John supported the Santa Fe Opera and all of its endeavors with heartfelt love. He felt it an honor to be able to fulfill a lifelong dream. John was a superb role model for everyone who aspired to appreciate, on the deepest of levels, the true meaning and beauty of opera. It was an honor for Charlie and I to know you and count you as a friend.

Your Maryland friends will miss you dearly as well, dear John. Wish we had taken that long planned trip to Santa Fe ... now we won't get the back stage tour of the Opera. We hope that beautiful music welcomed you where ever you have traveled to. The music of your deep voice and your smiling and kind heart will sing in our memories forever.
