MARIA ELENA HELEN CORDOVA SEPTEMBER 9, 1922 - FEBRUARY 28, 2017 Our mother/grandmother/great grandmother, Maria Elena "Helen" Cordova, 94, left this world peacefully, with her family by her side on February 28, 2017. Born September 9, 1922 in Chimayo, New Mexico. Helen lived an amazing long, happy and healthy life in Santa Fe for over 63 years. The only child of Severo and Teresita Jaramillo, both master Chimayo Weavers, merchants and farmers. She attended and graduated from Loretto Academy where she was a border and led a life filled with strong faith, discipline, generosity and love for family and friends. Helen was married to William A. Cordova for over 55 years, a dedicated teacher and Superintendent of Santa Fe County Schools. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Severo and Teresita Trujillo Jaramillo and her husband "Willie." She is survived by her four children: Roberto Timoteo, Louie and wife Anna, Lupita Joyce and husband Butch Blazer, and Alberto Tomas Cordova. The joy of her life were her grandchildren: Carlos William Fierro Cordova, Leslie Trujillo and husband Jake, Douglas Martin Fierro and wife Elika, Louie Severo Cordova, Deanna Cordova, Tim C. Cordova and fianc‚ Miwa Moreno, and Maya Cordova, her great grandchildren, as well as her close friends, "sisters" Stella Chavez Usner and Josephine Vigil Martinez. Special thanks to her caregivers: Misako Moreno and Vilma Contreras who loved and cared for Helen with so much respect, love and kindness. A Catholic Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Berardinelli Mortuary located at 1399 Luisa St., Santa Fe, NM. Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church located at 1120 Canyon Road, Santa Fe, with a celebration of life reception to follow at the Parish Hall. Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the National Cemetery, Santa Fe.
