TOMMY CANTOU Obituary
September 28, 1932 – November 26, 2025
Tommy Cantou Sr. passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord at the age of 93. He joined The New Mexico State Police in 1958. He was stationed in Grants, Vaughn, Moriarty, Taos and Santa Fe. He rose quickly through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. Cantou retired as Commander and Bureau Chief of the Office of Professional Standard and Internal Affairs after serving 38 years and 9 months.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Frankie Cantou and Josephine Pacheco Cantou- and stepfather August Nava, sister Mary Frances Cantou and sons Joseph and Tommy Jr. Cantou. He is survived by his wife Ramona of the home in Santa Fe, his daughter Mary Frances of Rio Rancho and granddaughter Ashton Cantou and grandson Ryan Martin and great-grandchildren Sterling and Solease Cantou Hobbs of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic church in Santa Fe NM on Monday, December 15, 2025. The Rosary will be at 10:00 AM, Mass from 10:30 – 11:30 AM, followed by internment at 12:30 PM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full State Police Honor Guard with highest military honors.

My deepest condolences for your loss, Ramona and Mary Francis and family.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are remembering times with Tommy, Ramona, and Mary Francis and the beautiful songs that Joseph and Tommy Jr. would sing at my aunt Josie's and uncle Augustine's home while strumming the guitar. They both had amazing voices with beautiful harmonies. All are missed and remembered with a smile. Thanks for the memories.
I also remember visiting cousin Tommy and Ramona, in the early days in Taos with my mom and dad, Sylvia and Jimmy.
