YOLANDA TURPEN Obituary
August 8, 1944 – August 3, 2025
Yolanda Maria Turpen, 80, of Santa Fe, passed away at home on August 3, 2025, in the arms of her husband, Charles.
Born in Santiago, Chile, on August 8, 1944, to Feliciano Araya and Julia Silva, Yolanda grew up among four brothers and three sisters.
She earned her Matrona Degree from the Universidad de Chile in 1965 and later continued her nursing education in New Mexico, earning degrees from the College of Santa Fe and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from UNM.
In 1968, she married Charles in Santiago, Chile, and together they raised two daughters, Genise and Pamela. A gifted and compassionate nurse, Yolanda dedicated many years to the maternity ward at St. Vincent's Hospital, touching countless lives with her skill and kindness. She will be remembered for her elegance, generosity, and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband Charles; daughter Genise (husband Andrew), grandson Max (partner Hayne), grandson Sean; daughter Pamela (partner Stephanie), grandson Mateo; sisters Gina Cotton and Patricia Piñeda; brothers Sergio, Jorge, and Patricio Araya; and many loving relatives and friends across the globe.
A funeral service and memorial will be held on August 17, 2025, at 12:00PM at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Santa Fe. Should you prefer, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Yolanda's name to Planned Parenthood or St. Jude’s Hospital.
