Alice Kelly Obituary
1950 - 2023
Alice Machado Kelly was born January 30, 1950, to Joseph and Constance Machado. For the first three years of her life, she lived in a two bedroom farmhouse on Suey Road, with her parents and Joe 's brother Frank, his wife Isabell (who was Connie 's sister). By the way, they were wedded in a double wedding ceremony. Also, there were Alice 's older sisters, Patricia and Joan plus their double cousin, Frank Jr. When Maryann was born, the house got too crowded and Alice 's family moved to the Machado Ranch closer to Santa Maria. When the ranch was subdivided, Joe and his mother kept their houses and a new street named after Joe 's horse buckskin was built. A fifth daughter Susie was born.
Alice attended Saint Mary's Catholic school and Santa Maria high school. After graduation she followed some good advice from her mother and applied to the utility companies. This started a 36 year career with PG&E. Besides baking cakes Alice's favorite hobby was shopping. Especially at Pic'n Save/Mc Frugals /Big Lots.
Alice married her high school sweetheart Frank Lopez. The union produced two daughters Melissa and Melanie. In November 1989 Alice married her second husband, Patrick Kelly, who had four children, Kathleen, Michael, Jonathan, and Yin.
Late in life, Alice was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve, and in June 2021 with Lewy body disease. Luckily, she passed away from the heart problem and poor medical care before the Lewy body disease could get her.
Alice is survived by her four sisters, husband Patrick, children, step children, 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Alice was a loving devoted mother and grandmother, faithful spouse and a good friend.
A visitation will be held 5 to 7 PM on Friday, September 22 and a service at 10 AM Saturday. Both at Magner-Maloney Funeral Home, 600 E. Stowell Rd. Interment will be at a later date.
