Darleen Elisse Vallejo

1951 - 2025

Darleen Elisse Vallejo, 74, of Santa Maria, CA passed away December 17, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in San Jose, CA, December 9, 1951 to Pedro Bagood and Penny Johnson. Her family moved to Santa Maria when she was an infant and she attended local schools. Darleen graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1970.

After high school she began working for the City of Santa Maria. She worked in City Hall as the receptionist. She transferred to the police department as the desk clerk, then moved to the Public Works department. Darleen ended her 49 years of service at the city while working at the Santa Maria Public Library. She also worked at the Hilton Hotel as a desk clerk. Darleen worked well with the public.

She had many hobbies throughout her life including Hula dancing for a local dance group, bowling in the Filipino Bowling League and tournaments, and playing Bingo at the Elks and at the Chumash Casino. Darleen loved attending crafts shows especially during the Christmas season. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She would host family parties for special occasions like birthdays and holidays which included lots of Filipino foods with desserts.

Darleen was survived by sons Ernest (Arlene) Vallejo, Chad Vallejo, and daughter, Tiana (John Bruno) Silva and her grandchildren Shayna and Nathan Vallejo, Leila and Ronan Vallejo, and Brendan Silva, along with siblings Brenda Bagood, Cathy Ward, Saints Talaugon, Samantha (Larry) Soto, plus numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Darleen was preceded in death by Penny Johnson, Pedro Bagood, Victoria Bagood, Tono Bagood, Faith Talaugon, Troy Johnson.

The Rosary is at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary, 1003 E Stowell Rd, Santa Maria, CA 93454 December 26, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Celebration of Life will follow at Rancho Bowl, 128 E. Donovan, Santa Maria, CA at 1:00 pm.
