Our Grandpa, our hero, Douglas Cokley, broke our hearts and went to heaven on the 4th of July, ruining that holiday forever.

Grandpa's birthday was November 8, 1947. I remember surprising him with a birthday party and Grandpa surprised us with something even more. I will always laugh about that. I am sad I won't be able to surprise him this year on his birthday.

Grandpa was the best friend me and my brother ever had. He always gave us love and laughs. He loved to watch westerns, classics and action movies with us every time we came over. Grandpa was hilarious. He always made us laugh when he would say do you have a turd in your pocket or is a bluebird blue. When we would ask him if he needed anything he would tell us Two blondes.

We are going to miss spending time with Grandpa at the beach, at the park where we would always take our pictures, at Giavanni's for dinner, Pappy's for breakfast and just hanging out with him at his house working on stuff and loving on each other. We can't say what we will miss the most about Grandpa because we love it all, his smile, his laugh, his hugs, his voice, his stories, his generosity, his weekly calls to harass Momma and talk about life and laugh at the world, the look of love in his eyes when he would look at my Daddy and him fixing things with my Daddy but really he would sit there trying to tell my Daddy how to do it.

Thank you for giving us our Daddy. Thank you for being good to me and my brother and always knowing exactly what we needed, not everyone can do that. Thank you for being you, the best Grandpa and friend a kid could have. See you on the other side. I hope you finally got your two blondes. We love you Grandpa.
