Edith (Edie) Hill

Edith Elizabeth Price Hill (Edie) was 90 when she joined her husband William L. Hill (Bill) in heaven on October 1, 2022. Edie is survived by her three children Debbie, Gregg (Debbie), and Tracy (Lori); four grandchildren Christine, Mitchell (Shelby), Matthew (Bailey), and Annabella; and great-grandson Riley and was also awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandchild in February. She had many close and special friends, as well as her tortoise, Miss Lily.

Edie was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her parents, Samuel and Eula Price, siblings Mabel, Donald, Nathan, Willie, Tom, and Joe, and her great-granddaughter Avery.

Edie grew up in North Carolina, from very humble beginnings. She graduated from Graham High School (voted best dressed every year) and attended community college. Edie held many jobs including quality control for AT&T (aka Western Electric) and General Electric. However, her favorite "job" was when she opened her own daycare- giving so many children a loving and healthy beginning. After "retirement" she began her final career as a "lunch lady" at Spanish Springs High School where her grandsons went to school.

Edie loved to travel, sew, garden, attend church, volunteer, do puzzles, play Shanghai, and spend time with her family and friends. We are all blessed and better for the time we had with her, she was the epitome of grace, kindness, compassion, caring, and strength. She will be missed by many. Edie had a full life, but even at 90, she leaves us too soon.

Funeral services were held on October 9, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Sparks, Sparks, Nevada. Edie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill on October 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM in a Graveside Service at the Santa Maria Cemetery, 1501 S. College Drive, Santa Maria, California. A lunch will follow at Crestwood Christian Fellowship, 165 W. McCoy Lane, Santa Maria, California. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the American Cancer Society or the local Breast Cancer Society. Thank you.
