James Knorr Obituary

James Knorr

August 21, 1932 - August 3, 2024

Santa Maria - James Veit Knorr 91, of Santa Maria passed away peacefully Saturday, August 3, 2024. Born on August 21, 1932, in Jefferson City, Missouri, Son of Veit B. and Elfreida (Hager) Knorr.

Jim proudly served in the Army during the Korean War, where he began working with heavy artillery before being appointed as a secretary to the Commander in Chief. His talent in tennis was soon discovered, and he became the team's star player.

In February of 1960, Jim married the love of his life, Carmelina Irene Balderamma. Together, they were blessed with three sons: James, Robert and Thomas. Jim was known for his zest for life, his deep love for his family, and endless repertoire of jokes, remembered as "Knorr-isms".

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmelina Knorr; his sisters Virginia Fern Bremmerkamp, June Rose Horak, Victoria LaRue Walther and Jane Evelynn Knorr and brother Cortez V. Knorr.

He is survived by his three children: Jimmy Knorr, Bobby Knorr (Coreen) and Tommy Knorr (Myretta), his seven cherished grandchildren: Ashley, Nicholas, Lauren, Jake, Bradley, Erik, Katelynne; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.

A private Celebration of Life to be held at the American Legion Post 524 at later date.

I first met the Knorr's in the late 70's when they moved into our neighborhood. I have nothing but great memories of the Mr. and Mrs. Knorr and family. My condolences to Jimmy, Bobby and Tommy and their families.
