Jon Thomas Pitts

1940 - 2021

Jon Thomas Pitts passed away on November 5, 2021 in Yuma, AZ. Jon was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Dorothy. He is survived by his sister Juanita Gail Field of Sherman, Tx; four children: Jon Pitts (Trudi) of Paso Robles, CA; Jodi Williams (Mitch) of Solvang, CA; Jerry Pitts (Ivy) of Yuma, Az and Jamie Pitts of Meridian, Id; nephew, Tom Field of Sherman, Tx and niece Donna Shephard of San Diego, CA, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three step-daughters and numerous friends.

Jon was born in the city of Los Angeles on September 20, 1940 and attended local schools, graduating from Artesia High School in 1958. He worked in the dairy and concrete industry until moving to Paso Robles where he raised his four kids with his former wife. Jon moved from California to Texas in 1982 and ended up in Tucson where he and Dorothy were Chi Omega parents at the University of Arizona. Jon and Dorothy finally settled in New Mexico, as they loved the desert. His detailed stories and well-executed jokes were epic. Jon loved his family, his friends, softball, fishing, American history and lively conversation about politics. Jon's ashes will be spread in New Mexico on April 9th. Let's go, Brandon!
