Larry John Smith, 69, of Santa Maria, CA passed away on September 19, 2021.
Larry was born in Monrovia, CA on July 18, 1952 and later moved with his family to Santa Maria.
Larry was proceeded in death by his parents Milton & Gladys Smith. He is survived by his brother Richard Smith of Frisco, Texas.
Larry marched to the beat of his own drum. He enjoyed watching odd ball films in his own personal movie theater complete with manikins made to look like his favorite actors. Including a full size Robi the robot and a full size replica Tardis from the Dr. Who T.V. series. In his younger days he enjoyed performing as a ventriloquist along with magic and was a frequent guest of The Magic Castle, a clubhouse for magicians in Los Angeles. He kept a Christmas Tree up year round and even played Santa in his youth at local parties.
A grave side service will be held Friday Oct 1, 2021 at 11AM at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to your favorite charity in memory of Larry.

Spell that Larry was a very special friend in the late seventies and eighties. It seems just like yesterday. When the children and I moved from Pasadena up to Three Rivers she would always come up and visit. Boys called him his buddy Larry who does boy things with them. She came up regularly for quite a few years he was great with the boys and taught them so many things. He was a great friend for so long and I'm so sorry that that everyday things of Life took over and we lost track of each other. So sorry to hear that he passed! The great wonder that was him will always be in my heart on my memory.

I will truly miss my internet friend of 20 years. We shared interests of robots, monsters, puppets, super heros and just about anything odd or crazy. I will cherish the viseo he made for me of his collection and his sense of humor....Nick
