Lyle Maxey Obituary
July 7, 1941 - August 16, 2025
Cottonwood - Lyle D. Maxey, 84, died August 16, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Cottonwood, AZ. As a member of American Legion Post 160 in Solvang, he served as Chaplain and eventually Post Commander, 2005-2008. He and his surviving wife of 46 years, Valerie, were residents of Solvang 1999-2014. They were active in the Model A Club and Old Mission Santa Ines. Burial with full military honors took place August 29 at the Arizona State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Camp Navajo near Flagstaff. Donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or other veterans ' benefit organizations are appreciated.
