Maria Wilson Obituary

Maria M. Wilson

1929 - 2022

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and nana, Maria M. Wilson went home to be with Jesus for all eternity on the 23rd of September, 2022 at the age of 93.

Maria was born to Vicente and Paula Morales on March 28, 1929 in Ventura, Ca. At the age of two her family moved to Santa Maria, Ca where she lived there the rest of her life. As a child, she enjoyed playing ping pong in school, taking care of her three younger sisters and developed a lifelong love for reading and learning.

As a young adult, her first job was working for Mr. Dorsey at the Santa Maria Movie Theater where she was an usher and worked the concession stand. She went on to work at other various jobs in Santa Maria such as the chili plant and a bookstore. Her hobbies included cosmetology and cake decorating.

Maria met her husband, Rev. Odis Wilson, in 1972 at The Whosoever Will Church. They were married in May of 1972 and she dedicated her life to the Lord and to serving Him and fulfilling her God given purpose. She traveled the world ministering and helping those in need with her husband and daughter by her side. She played the piano, organ, and accordion in church for praise and worship.

Maria was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. She loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. She dedicated her life to spreading the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ. If you were ever at her house you would hear her praising the Lord continually or reciting scripture. Every time she heard an ambulance drive by she would instantly pray for whoever was in need.

She was an avid reader and loved learning something new. She would memorize entire chapters of the Bible, Psalm 91, being her favorite. She loved to walk and would often be seen walking 8 miles a day from her home to the library and the mall. Anyone who drove by her house would see her working in her yard and taking care of her beautiful flowers. She loved her daughter, four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren so very much. She always made sure that they had everything before herself. She was selfless and unwavering in her love for others.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and nana, Maria also loved walking to the library where she was a Friend of the Library. Throughout her entire life, Maria held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her and those she would encounter around town. She made everyone she met feel loved and special. She was everyones Nana.

Maria joins her parents Vicente Morales and Paula Talavera Morales, her husband Rev. Odis Wilson, her two sisters, Claudina Hernandez and Consuelo Heroux in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Davis, her four grandchildren Elijah (Aury) Davis, Aimee (Jacob) Isvak, James (Mercedezz) Davis, and Matthew (Ivette) Davis, her 11 great grandchildren James, Levi, Hunter, Lucille, Maggie-Mae, Logan, Jubilee, Zoe, Tommy, Leon, and Jade, her sister Julia Hosick of Lompoc and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on October 13th at 11:00 at Dudley Hoffman in Santa Maria, Ca.
