Rudy Lopez Obituary
1956 - 2024
Rudy Lopez was born on October 29, 1956, to Refugio and Helen Lopez.
He peacefully passed away on May 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Growing up on the central coast, Rudy's culinary skills left a lasting impression on those who knew him from his roles at Sambos Restaurant, Farm Boys Restaurants, and Rudy and Angie's Mexican Food. In his later years, he was a familiar face at Food 4 Less in Arroyo Grande.
Rudy's legacy as an inspirational figure endures among his acquaintances. While he was an avid San Francisco Forty Niners supporter, his deepest affection was reserved for his high school sweetheart and wife, Angie, and their family.
Rudy is preceded in death by his father, Refugio Lopez, and his in-laws, Thomas and Eva Olvera.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Lopez, daughter Elena Lopez, son Chris Lopez, grandchildren Brenda Gutierrez, Monica Lopez, Joshua Lopez, Maria Gutierrez, Sophia Embry, Lilyana Embry, Jerry Embry III, and great-grandson Khyler Torres, his sisters Margaret Lopez, Diana Miranda and his mother Helena Lopez.
A Celebration of Life honoring Rudy will be held on July 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Nipomo, CA, with a reception to follow.

Did not know Rudy was part of Sambo's-was that in Santa Barbara? a grand restaurant......................sorely missed at Food4Less and still remember him being a client of my boss, David Hagan, Atty. David has now passed................

What a person! So sorry to hear this...........can NOT believe it! Thinking of you Angie..............I'm secretary to Atty. David Hagan in Grover quite awhile ago................saw Rudy regularly at Food4Less in more recent yrs. Hope for the best for you and the family and LOVE to you.

Hard to hear that my friend passed away. We grew up living in the same street in Grover Beach, CA. I lived on 4th St. in Manhattan and he lived on 9th or 10th can't hardly remember, but he would wait for me so we could walk to school to gether in Grover Beach Elementary. He would make me laugh with all his jokes, always kept me laughing..Last time I saw him, he was working in Smart & Final in Santa Maria. We talked a lot about his family and his children and wife. There was a lot of sadness in his eyes and I could see how much he was missing them. I told him everything will be ok, it will all work out and he smiled and hug me good bye...RIP my Friend..Estella Hart/aka: Aguilar
