Thomas Henry Briscoe

October 8, 1935 to July 13, 2023

Thomas, the eldest of two boys, was born in Santa Maria, California to parents Roy and Virginia Briscoe. He grew up in Santa Maria, was in the Boy Scouts, and attended church regularly with his family. Tom was active in track and band at Santa Maria High School, graduating in 1953. He graduated from Allan Hancock College, taking a special interest in airplane mechanics. He enlisted in the Navy and returned home to marry his sweetheart Shirley at First Christian Church on October 12, 1956. They remained in Santa Maria raising their three daughters. Tom loved the outdoors, and passed that love onto his children. Music was also an important part of his life, from singing in the church choir to whistling around the house. He was proud of his heritage, regaling all he knew with stories of old town Santa Maria and how the family history dates back to an original settler, Isaac Fesler. He retired at the age of 70 from the job he enjoyed the most, as a Mechanical Technician with the Titan missile program.

Thomas is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Briscoe and his wife of 63 years, Shirley Briscoe. He is survived by his children; Becky Jacobsen, Karen Briscoe, and Sheryl Maher. His grandchildren; Kai Jacobsen, Bryce Jacobsen, Madison Alm, and Colin Alm and great grandchildren; Anthony Jacobsen and Anya Jacobsen.

Tom will be remembered and missed by those whose lives he has touched over the years. He will be especially missed by his loving family and best friend. Special thanks to those who offered prayers of care and support during this time.
