Delia Faiola

Saratoga Springs, NY ' Delia (Micco) Faiola, 84, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2023, after a long and courageous battle (over 30 years) with cancer. Her passing was in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Delia was born on June 21, 1938, in Maiorano di Monte, Italy, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Cristina Micco. Delia married her husband, Raymond J. Faiola, Sr., on October 13, 1963, at Maria SS. Assunta Church, in Santa Maria La Fossa, Italy. They were happily married for 20 years, until his death on October 3, 1983. She lived in the same house on East Ave in Saratoga Springs, New York for 60 years. Delia's dream was to get married, come to the United States, and have children. A loving mother and homemaker, Delia was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. Her homemade pasta, meatballs and braciole were favorites of many. So much so, that Delia catered meals to many of the August trainers, owners, and jockeys. Delia dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She was the matriarch of the family, through and through. Delia was affectionately known as Nonna (grandmother) to many. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. Her unconditional love for her children and grandchildren encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Delia enjoyed her time as a member of the Principessa Elena Society. She spent time sewing, shopping, and watching her soap operas. Delia was a very spiritual woman and a communicant of St. Clements Church. Her faith inspired a life of Christian values. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily. Delia is predeceased by brothers; Michelino, Luigi, Armando, and sisters; Ersilia, Filomena, Gina, and nephew Michelino. Those left to cherish her memory are, son Lou Faiola and spouse Melissa and grandchildren Isabella and Nicolas; daughter Christina Russotti and spouse Greg, and grandchildren Julianna, Daniella and Angelina; son Jerry Faiola; and daughter Mary Jane Laurer and spouse Kurt and grandchildren, Josef and Sofia; her stepson, Raymond J. Faiola Jr. and spouse Kim, grandchildren Jesse and spouse Lorraine, Heather and spouse Calvin Harris and great- grandchildren, Bain, Coulter and Mattie; and her sister Maria Miglucci, along with many nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Liebers, Murtaza Singaporewala, P.A., and the staff at The Saratoga Hospital Medical Group (Oncology). Dr. Pezzulo, and Nancy Cole, R.N., at The Community Hospice of Saratoga for their compassionate care and treatment. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Burchell, Dr. Daoui, Dr. Eldeiry, Dr. Klempner, Dr. Kondo, Dr. Novakovic, and Chris Jenack, R.N. for their care.
