Edward Blonkowski Obituary
He was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Schenectady, a son of Dominic and Mary Kolor Blonkowski, and was educated there.
Ed lived in Ballston Spa for the past 45 years.
Mr. Blonkowski was employed as a computer operator at Watervliet Arsenal and retired in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Ballston Spa.
Ed was a U.S. Army veteran and proudly served during the Korean Conflict.
He was an avid sports fan and a loyal New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.
Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Mielcasz Blonkowski, whom he married April 18, 1959; a son, Paul (Lili) Blonkowski of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Joanne (Peter) Romano of Latham and Nancy (Todd) Yaeger of Gansevoort; three precious granddaughters, Brittany (Jesse) Siminitz of Washington, D.C., and Stephanie and Morgan Yaeger of Gansevoort; and a niece and nephew.
A military service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery at 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in the care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095.
