Homer Neahr Obituary

Homer E. Neahr GALWAY- Homer E. Neahr, 84, of Route 29 Galway died Saturday evening February 11, 2012 at Saratoga County Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. He was born in the town of Providence on June 23, 1927 a son of Howard and Anna Stanton Neahr and was educated in local schools. Mr. Neahr was a lifelong area resident. He was employed as a truck driver and worked for the Town of Galway at one time. Homer later drove for several other area trucking companies, including Hunt Brothers Trucking, of Wells. Mr. Neahr was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during World War II in the Azores. Homer enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a social fixture at Chuck's General Store in Galway. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time at hunting camp. Homer was married to the former Ruth Hinkle in April 1947. She died in January 1963. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by twin sons, Dennis, who died in 1982 and Dale, who died in 2011 ; and a sister, Louise Sherman. Survivors include a daughter, Ella Denison of Galway; two brothers, Richard Neahr of Providence and Carl Neahr of Galway; three grandsons, Michael, Marshall, and Marc Denison; four great-grandchildren. Kenneth, Ethan, Sierra, and Sadie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown with Rev. Bill Delia, officiating. Burial will be in Barkersville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ella, Michael, Marshall, and Marc,
