I am sorry to hear of John's passing. Our paths first crossed in 2015 when I reached out to John to do a workshop for my agency, at one of our annual conferences. At that time I learned of his many talents and his commitment to helping veterans and others in need. Over the years we stayed in touch on brain injury issues. May his memory be for a blessing always.

My condolences to the Ostwald family. I was honored to meet John many years ago when I was the Activities Director of Eden Park Nursing Home. John loved to entertain the residents with his beautiful music and quick wit. When I move on to Guilderland Center Nursing Home John, came along for the ride. He was my go to guy for entertainment and the residents loved him and he always made them smile and feel special. He was a great man with a great talent and had a great love for people and for life. May you rest in peace my friend and suffer no more.

My condolences to the Ostwald family. I was honored to meet John many years ago when I was the Activities Director at Eden Park Nursing Home in Troy. John had such a zeal for life and loved to entertain the residents with his beautiful music and quick wit. When I moved on to Guilderland Center Nursing Home, John came along for the ride. He was my go to person for entertainment because the residents loved him and he always made them feel special. He was a great man with a great talent and a great love of life. I was so very saddened to learn of John's passing. I feel blessed to have been involved in his care while he was a patient in the Hospice Unit at Samaritan Hospital. I hope I was able to make his final days as comfortable as possible. My deepest sympathy to his family especially his sons, Nick and Jackson. May all of you find peace in knowing that John is no longer suffering.

John was a friend for as long as I can remember! He grew up on Hill St! I remember vividly when he came home in his Military Uniform and his family was so proud! One of the great ones. Rest easy John. God bless your family during this difficult time.

Mr. Ostwald (aka Vick Vega). I will miss you so. You were such an amazing inspiration to me. What you taught me at HVCC nearly 20 years ago, comes into play in my life every day. I'm so happy I was able to see you and your wife in the early summer (even if it was for just a few minutes at ocean state job lot). It meant so much to me.
