John Ross Obituary

John Joseph Ross IILAKE GEORGE - John Joseph Ross II of Lake George, NY passed away suddenly on Friday, December 8, 2017 at his home on Equinox Drive; he was 68 years old. Born on June 2, 1949, John was the son of the late John Ross and Esther (Marcino) Ross of Whitehall, New York. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1967, lettering in 3 sports. John attended Siena College and received a degree in Marketing. He was employed for over 30 years with AXA Equitable Advisors where he devoted his life to helping clients achieve financial security. Through the lives of his children, John was able to preserve his passion for sports. His legacy as a coach and mentor touched countless lives throughout the community and enriched his own. All his life, John was a devout Roman Catholic and attended weekly mass at the parish of Sacred Heart. John loved Lake George and spent many wonderful years boating, swimming, and exploring the wonder and beauty of the 'Queen of American Lakes'. However, his greatest love was his immediate and extended family along with a multitude of close and cherished friendships. John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lesley (Ives) Ross; his 2 sons, John III and James; his daughter, Mia (Ross) Yousefzadeh and her husband, Ehsan; and the family dogs, Fletcher and Driggs. His 2 sisters, Mary Anne Ross and Jean Huntington, his brother, Frank Ross, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive him. The family will accept visitors on Friday, December 15 from 4pm-7pm at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. A service will be held the following day, Saturday, December 16 at 1pm at Saint Mary's Church in Glens Falls. In loving memory of John, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Condolences may be directed to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.

John was one of my closest friends for nearly 50 years. We were roommates at Sienna College and, by coincidence, he had known my wife Laurene's family since childhood. I spoke to him just a day before his passing; dreaming about being out on the lake as we always did. We had countless experiences, far too many to mention, but all great memories now. My best to Leslie, John, Mia and James. Rossi will never leave you or any of us, that would not be his style. He is still here in our memories and our souls.

Our deepest condolences to John's family! We are so very sorry for your loss. John began as our family financial planner in the late 1980's. He became a trusted friend. When he would come to review my mothers finances the whole family would come just to visit with John! He bragged about his entire family- we heard stories of growing up in Whitehall, antics of he & his siblings, proud stories about his children & he spoke of his wife with such a twinkle in his eye! We even heard stories about the dogs! He truly loved his family! John gave such good sound advice, in my opinion he will not be replaceable at AXA! Please know, you all are in our thoughts and prayers!

Condolences to your family. I met John through sports. My son, Kevin played against James in baseball, basketball, & soccer. We first met at Little League tournaments, where I coached for Argyle & John coached with Tom Callahan for LG. Later on James & Kevin played together on the Adirondack Reds. John was a great guy and always displayed sportsmanship and grace, no matter the result of the game.

God Bless.

Lesley, John, James and Mia-
I would like to extend my deepest condolences from myself and my family. We don't believe there is a family in Lake George or the extended community that doesn't have terrific memories of Mr. Ross and your family. From his personal involvement in my life during high school while I was cheerleading for John Jr with Basketball, to your families warm support during our own sudden tragedies years later. While working close with my father, he even extended hand in helping me land a great job!!!! He has always been a warm smile and he always had a true, genuine interest in others lives and their happiness. Please know that your family will remain close to our thoughts and prayers. If there's anything we can do, it would be our honor.

I cannot imagine what you are feeling right now. To lose a good brother unexpectedly, especially one who "sparkled" is so tough. I am praying for you and your family, and I wish there was more I could do to make the road ahead easier.

Mary Anne and Frank, Please accept my condolences at the death of your brother, a father and husband to a wonderful family and a childhood friend of mine. We played together as young children in the local community and at the Ross house which was always so welcoming. Although I was not close with John after I left our hometown. I can believe he became a solid citizen of the north country and his presence will be missed. May John rest in peace and his family find some solace in the presence of close friends and family at this time of sorrow.

My deepest condolences to the Ross family. I will always remember Mr. Ross as a loud and energetic presence on the sidelines of our baseketbal games. He was our biggest fan and always rooted for the girls to be the best players that they could. While that infectious energy lives on in his three kids, Lake George will sorely miss him.

May God Bless and be with the soul of John Ross, and his wife, children, and extended family whom I am certain find succor in the loving embrace of one another and the blessings of their shared faith. The Ross family arrived in our neighborhood when I was yet a young boy: I remember his older sister and John well, and the births of his brother and younger sister as years passed. I think there was no more gracious family in my youth and I have remembered this throughout my years since having moved and travelled over the years. Faith and love fairly describe who they were and doubtless who they are. The universe of those who knew them, who love them -- the parents, the children -- and John Joseph II is large and we can be confident that each feels this loss deeply, as do I.

I am so sad to hear of John's death. I was just talking about him with a neighbor on Sunday morning. I was relating how we re-connected through Fletcher and Thatcher.
I will always remember that wild summer at Camp Ding-a-ling on Huletts Landing with George and Susan.
John was always lots of fun.

December 13, 2017

Our deepest condolences to Lesley, John, James, and Mia. We only had the pleasure of speaking with John a few times, but always enjoyed our visits and conversations. His legacy will live on in the lives of his children, all of whom are very accomplished and wonderful people, which only speaks to the examples set by their parents. We're sure he will be greatly missed, but we hope you will be comforted with all the great memories you have of your times together. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Ross was one of my absolute favorite customers. We cleaned his beautiful home every 4 weeks, and every time we walked in both he and Mrs. Ross were so friendly and laid back. He just had a comical, yet calming demeanor. I was so, so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I can only imagine the void the family feels at this time and I will be thinking of them.
