Michael Macica Obituary

Michael M. Macica SARATOGA SPRINGS - Michael “Mike” M. Macica, 92, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 in his lifelong home, surrounded by his entire family. Born on August 21, 1922 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late Stephen and Teresa Santner Macica. Married to the former Kitty Jones of County Cork, Ireland, they recently celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 2nd. A communicant of St. Clement’s Church and after attending St. Clement’s School, he ran the family farm during World War Two while his brothers served in the military. Mike worked for the Town of Saratoga until he joined his twin brother Andy as a carpenter in the Carpenter Union Local 370. He was involved in many area construction projects, most notably SPAC, Fasig Tipton and Skidmore College. Additionally, he and his wife owned the Turning Point Country Store. Mike was a craftsman with a passion for turning junk into treasures. These projects were shared with family and friends, building custom furniture or restoring old toys for grandchildren. He loved living in his family home, preferring to spend time with family and friends, admiring his garden or eating his latest concoction. He is most famous for his love of Model T Fords, transforming rusty parts into perfectly restored autos. His last restoration, a 1926 Model T “Woody”, his legacy, will be most remembered for the family memories it created. As a member of the Model T Ford Club of the Capital District, he greatly appreciated the generous friendship of its members. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters Josephine and Frances, and his four brothers, Louis, Joseph, Sylvester and his beloved identical twin, Andy. He will be dearly missed by his family, including his wife Kitty; children, Terry (David) Swick of Saratoga Springs, Patty (Bobby) Smaldone of Hingham, MA, Michael (Mary Anne) Macica of Saratoga Springs, Francie Macica of Waltham, MA and Eileen Macica of Malta, NY; grandchildren, Allison LeMay, David Swick, Christine DiTullio, Michelle Pisciotta, Aaron Swick, Bryan Macica and Eric Walsh; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Matthew, Ryan, Hunter, Nina and Harper, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Blessed with so many friends who shared his passions, all loved Mike’s witty sense of humor and eloquent story telling. Eventual calling hours at the Burke/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373) and his funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue, are pending for this week and will be announced. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Ave. Online remembrances may be made at burkefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Northeastern New York Chapter, JDRF, 950 New Loudon Rd., Suite 330, Latham, NY 12110.

While I never personally knew Mr. Macica, his name was very familiar to me as he and my Dad, Chuck Zetterstrom worked together many years through the Carpenter's Union. My Dad passed away in 2004. I'll think of them together doing some marvelous craftsmanship. My sincere sympathy in your loss.

THE BRIDGE

THERE IS A BRIDGE CONNECTING HEAVEN AND EARTH. THIS BRIDGE CONTAINS THE

ETHER WHICH HOLDS THE UNIVERSE(S) TOGETHER. THIS GLUE IS CALLED LOVE. WHEN

A LOVED ONE DIES, THE LOVE NEVER DOES, IT ENTERS THIS ETHEREAL AREA WHERE

IT AWAITS THE REUNION WITH THEIR, FRIENDS, FAMILY, MATE. THUS WE EVENTUALLY BECOME AS

ONE WITH THE CREATOR, THAT BRIGHT LIGHT THAT IS THE GOODNESS OF GOD AND

PURE UNADULTERATED LOVE.

Dear Terry & Dave & Family ;
I hardly know what to say. Dog-gone-it. I am so sorry for your loss. The above is something I put together after much thought.
Somehow I missed the passing of your Dad. Joey Bokan just called (4:30 ,Thursday 11 June) and he said the after funeral get together was at Annes Washington Inn.
I met your Dad , early this spring or maybe it was last fall (?) at the Hannaford market parking lot. I noticed an old fella having a little problem getting to his car and helped him get in and asked if everything was OK. Of course as soon as he started speaking I recognized him and gave him a big hug. Interesting, very good Man. Now, he is exploring the universe !

With 85-95% of that universe of which man knows nothing , I would like to think that , that missing part is the real essence part of our being . Our souls. And, where we go on the biggest part of our journey of our life ( s ? ) here, and the hereafter. God bless you, Mr. Macica, on your journey. Thank you for your time with us.
Terry & Dave, God Bless your families. Leonard J. Muller

I'm so sorry for your loss. Pop was a very special man, and I am incredibly grateful that he shared his love of old cars with my father and myself. I'll cherish my memories of him and the lessons he taught us about working on Model T's (a handful of black pepper thrown into the radiator to stop leaks being a personal favorite). Best- James Zabala

To the family,

I am sorry to hear of Mike's passing. My best memory of him is when I was a kid and he used to take my sister and me along with some of you for a ride in the Model T. He was a sweet man. My thoughts are with you.
