Saratoga Springs NY.Raymond A. Boyea, 85 passed away December 19th, at the Glens Falls Emergency Room from heart failure. Born on August 31st, 1937, (his father's birthday) in Albany NY. He was the son of Francis Raymond Boyea and Marie Elizabeth Keefe Boyea. Raymond became friends with the love of his life, Mary Benoit in the 1940's, when they were small children. They later married and stayed married for 60years. Raymond served in the United States Army Signal Corp Military District of Washington as a Staff Sergeant from 1956- 1959. After his service in the Army, he became a police officer in the city of Albany NY, serving 27 years. Ray was known as an old school 'Cop's Cop' by his fellow officers. Raymond felt that all people have rights and he was always ready to make any sacrifice for anyone, regardless of any differences or opinions he had. 'A good cop takes care of and protects everyone equally'. Raymond and his family moved to Saratoga Springs in 1973. He was very much honored to be a 4 th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Saratoga Springs. Ray was alsoknown for having an ability to fix or build anything. He loved cats and even risked his life to rescue a kitten dumped on the I-90 interstate. He was a great cook and an even better guitar player, he loved his Gibson guitar. Raymond is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Marie, a Brother Francis C, two infant Sisters, Mary and Charmaine and his Grandson, Christopher Handler. Raymond is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Sara, three children, Charmaine Handler of Porter Corners,Norman and (Rachel) of Saratoga Springs and Raymond and (Michelle) of Granville. Several Grandchildren, Sarah, Kristen, Alexis, Christopher, Gregory, Brendan, Ellisha and many great- grandchildren.A visitation for family & friends will be on Thursday December 22, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Tunison Funeral Home 105 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10am at St. Mary's Church of Ballston Spa 167 Milton Ave. Ballston Spa, NY 12020.Burial with full military honors will follow at 11:30am at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Rd.
