William Brower Obituary

William(Bill) Brower left this earth to enter God's Presence peacefully at home with his wife and daughter next to him. He was born July 17, 1928 in Saratoga Springs, NY, the son of the late Ralph and Ruth Brower also of Saratoga where he grew up. He spent his boyhood years in the summers at his grandfather's store on Saratoga Lake. He graduated from Saratoga High School in 1946 and enlisted in the US Army for 3 years stationed at Ft. Momouth, NJ and the Phillipine Islands where he did occupational duty at the end of WWII. He was employed with Sinclair Oil after his time in the Service and then worked for 35 years with Niagara Mohawk(now National Grid)as a lineman. He retired as foreman of a 3 man crew in 1987. He was fondly called "Red" because of his red hair and loved by his fellow co-workers, many who remained friends after his retirement. He resided in Wilton for 72 years and over 65 of those years was a member of the Wilton Grange, where he served up many turkey dinners. Later he was a member of the Greenfield Grange, the Wilton Heritage Society, and the Wilton and Moreau Seniors. His first love was his wife, Emily(Indracek), whom he met at a high school dance and they never stopped dancing until these past few years. They even won a square dance competition at the Ballston Fair. They were married Aug. 26, 1951 and had their first and only child, Kim, in 1957, whom he cherished beyond measure. He loved and adored his grandchildren, Heather and Jesse Faiola and these past 18 years have so enjoyed his 3 Great Grandchildren, Bain, Coulter, and Mattie Morris. He was an avid reader and loved playing cards and board games especially with his family. They would all say he was a very serious card player and don't mess around when playing with him, and make sure there are lots of snacks to go around. He enjoyed hosting picnics and parties at their pool for over 50 years. He loved traveling and seeing new places, especially in his motorhome across the US. He has been in all 50 states. He took many bus trips with the Moreau Seniors where he was the brunt of many jokes. He and Emily spent many winters in the Florida Keys.He had a great big heart and loved people. He was a kind and gentle spirit, a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, and neighbor. He laughed alot and so many people have such great memories of their time spent with him. We are thankful for his 95 years and he will be greatly missed. Bill was predeceased by his mother and father and 2 sisters, Betty Delong and Jean Griswold, all of Saratoga Springs. He is survived by his loving wife, Emily, of 72 years, his beloved daughter, Kim(Raymond) Faiola of Saratoga Springs; 2 grandchildren: Heather(Cal) Morris of Birmingham, AL and Jesse(Lorraine) Faiola of Costa Rica. Also his 3 great grandchildren, Bain, Coulter, and Mattie Morris of Birmingham, AL and several nieces and nephews. It was his wish to donate his body to the Albany Anatomical Gift Program so there will be a honorary military service at the Saratoga National Cemetary, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville,NY on Tuesday Sept. 5 at 9:30am. Friends and Family are asked to arrive by 9:15 to be escorted to the service. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 in memory of William Brower. https://www.lastingmemories.com/william-brower

Emily & Kim,
Bill left a wonderful legacy with his love of life and gift of friendship to all he met. I remember him with very fond memories with every occasion that we shared. Our families were friends for so many years & generations that the line between family and friends blurred and we were all family.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
