OREGON, IL – Barbara J. Kirchner, age 75, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL.
Barb was born on January 28, 1949 in Oregon, IL, the daughter of Robert Gerald & Pauline Marie (Voss) Martin. Barb married James Kirchner on June 10, 1967 in Oregon, IL. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2020. They were married for 53 years. Barb was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook. She loved spending time with her family, but most of all she loved her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She spent many hours on the side by side and visiting with friends.
Barb is survived by her children, Amanda Kirchner, Rockford, IL and Matt (Jenny) Kirchner, Oregon, IL; grandchildren, Karly (Jared Frey) Koch, Bayley Kirchner, Kacey Koch, and Maddison (Conley) Kessler; great- grandchild, Paisley Frey; 6 brothers, Bill Martin, Oregon, IL, Russell (Judy) Martin, Oregon, IL, Wes (Tammy) Martin, Oregon, IL, Glenn (Toni) Martin, Oregon, IL, and Jerry (Donna) Martin, Oregon, IL; sister, Judy Hollenbeck, Oregon, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Kirchner; 2 brothers, Richard Martin and Emmitt Martin; and sister, Ruby Schier.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Burial will be held in Silver Creek Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. A celebration of life will be held after the burial at the Oregon VFW Post 8739, 1310 West Washington St, Oregon, IL from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Nachusa Grasslands.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jacobs, the nurses, and all ICU and Critical Care Unit staff at OSF St. Anthony for their excellent care of Barb.
