Charles Meurer Obituary

Charles 'Chuck' R. Meurer

Born: December 10, 1939

Died: June 1, 2021

ASHTON – Charles "Chuck" Russell Meurer, of Ashton, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of His Savior on June 1, 2021.

Chuck was born on December 10, 1939, in Amboy, the son of Russell and Elvina Meurer. Chuck married Pauline Weishaar on February 10, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ashton, IL.

He was better known to his family and friends as "Chuck" or "Charlie." He lived in the Ashton area and was a lifelong farmer, best known for raising pigs. He loved planting and harvesting the crops but took special joy in taking care of his livestock.

His faith was the cornerstone of his being. He raised his family to put God first in everything they did. He never met someone that didn't soon become a friend. Chuck lived his life often in service to others. His family and friends were his highest priority. His eternal home is secured by his relationship and faith in Christ. His family is certain he is tending to the sheep with Jesus now and waiting for our eventual reunion with him. Until we meet again.

Chuck held many positions of service including the National Guard (Dixon), Lee County Pork Producers President, 4-H leader of 20 plus years, Sunday achool teacher, Ashton School Board member, Lee County Representative for Marketers to Washington, D.C, Pioneer Seed Salesman and various church positions.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry.

Survivors includes his wife, Pauline; son, David (Kelly) Meurer; daughter, Michelle (David) Mairs; grandsons, Troy (Elizabeth) Mairs of Lockport, Adam Mairs of Ashton, and Levi (Jenna) Meurer; granddaughters, Kimberlee (Kyle) McClanahan, Lexi (John) Hilliker of Franklin Grove and Laci Meurer of Ashton; two great-grandsons, Ezekiel and Joshua McClanahan; brothers, Gene (Wanda) Meurer of Chatham, IL, and Merle (Carolyn) Meurer of Ashton; sisters, Carol (Robert) Pitzer of Franklin Grove, Bonnie (Steen) Albrecht of Ashton and Peggy (Ed) Higby of Dixon; and sister-in-law, Joanne Meurer.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson Avenue, Ashton, IL 61006. A celebration of life will be held at Calvary Lighthouse Church in Rochelle at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021.

Memorials can be made to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, Wounded Warrior Project or to a family memorial.
