Delores 'Dee' Jones Michelini

Delores "DEE" Jones Michelini, age 101 only 19 days short of 102, formerly of East Dundee passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 24, 2023, at Heritage Square Healthcare Center in Dixon, Illinois. Dee was born in Elgin on October 12, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Clarence C. & Anne M. (nee Schubert) Schumacher.
Prior to moving to Dixon, Dee had spent her whole life in the Dundee- Carpentersville area, with the exception of the years when she followed her new husband Dave to Salt Lake City, Utah where he was stationed during WWII. While there, she worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. She later used her shorthand skills to work many years for Illinois Iron and Bolt Works and other companies. She was a 1939 graduate of Dundee Community High School and was a lifelong member of the Zion Church in "Old Carpentersville". Dee was a loving caregiver to her unsighted aunt and mother-in-law. She especially enjoyed cooking, camping, and dancing.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki (Don) Hay; her former daughter-in-law, Suzi Jones; and her grandchildren: Christine Stephens, Mackenzie (Shea) Hay, M.D., Nina (husband John Olson) Jones, and Nicolette (Shane) Carroll. Other survivors include her great-grandchildren: Sydney, Owen, and Avery Stephens, Reef, Ellis, Remington, and Pippin Hay, Everett and Leon Olson, and Raylen Carroll, as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her first husband, David W. Jones on May 16, 1980; her second husband, John P. Michelini, Sr. on March 4, 2014; her son, David L. Jones on April 18, 2005; a grandson, Gerry Hay; her sisters, Joyce Storm, and Barbara Schumacher; and her brother, Robert Schumacher.
Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Suzanne Hall-Stout, officiating. Private family interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Elgin. Please omit flowers.
