Glenda Lee (Rachey) McCoy of Amboy passed away at home on September 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Glenda was born February 28, 1931 in Chicago, the daughter of Howard and Leila (Arends) Rachey. She graduated from Amboy High School in 1949. She was an office manager/accountant for F.S. for 42 years until her retirement in 1991.
In 1958 Glenda married Lee McCoy, he preceded her in death in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Dan) Anderson of Amboy, step sons James (Joe) McCoy of Florida, Tim (Connie) McCoy of West Virginia, Tony (Diane) McCoy of Amboy, brother Darrell Rachey of Florida. Grandchildren Kevin (Jen) Anderson of Amboy, Randy (Dani) Anderson of Amboy, Kristi Anderson of Florida. Great grandchildren Jeffrey and Justin Walls of Amboy, Lillianna and Kylee Anderson of Amboy.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews and many special friends who became family, especially Christine Kessel.
Preceding her in death are one brother Gene Rachey, sister Eileen Rachey and step son Billy Joe (Sue) McCoy.
Glenda was an exceptional bowler with a 180 pin average in her prime. She would never turn down a trip to Las Vegas, a good game of Euchre or even a stroll downtown to the slot machines at 90 years old. She was also known to run a good sports pool.
Glenda was a serious sports fan, most importantly a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. She kept stats of every game and could recite them better than most sportscasters. She firmly believed yelling at the T.V. made a difference. Glenda's love for the Cubbies was unwavering, a true reflection of her loyalty, patience and belief that good things come to those who never give up.
As we say goodbye we will picture her in the best seat in the house, high above the ivy, keeping score and smiling wide.
