James S. Stanley, age 85, of Willlowbrook, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Hinsdale Hospital. Jim was born June 27, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa to Iola Ruth (Sayles) Stanley and Lawrence Keith Stanley. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1955 and furthered his education in mechanical engineering at Eureka College. He was a skilled mechanical engineer and tool and die maker. On October 30, 1982, he married Deanna Baranik.
Growing up, Jim was active in the Boy Scouts, attaining Eagle Scout status. He was a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and was an accomplished marksman. He was also a member of the Tri County Gun Club and the Hinsdale Racquet Club. Jim was an avid reader, loved to play tennis and was especially fond of his four Great Pyrenees dogs.
James is survived by his wife, Deanna, of Willowbrook. He is also survived by one sister, Audrey Kay (Howard) Janssen of Rock Falls, Illinois, and brother-in-law, Ronald Baranik (Anne) of Conyers, Georgia as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Carol Alvarez.
Due to his generous spirit, James donated his body to educational studies at the University of Iowa, College of Medicine. In keeping with Jim's wishes, there will be no memorial services held.
