Died: June 2, 2024 in Polo, IL

John E. Gavin, 68, of Polo, IL, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at his home in Polo.
John was born, October 24, 1955, in Monmouth, IL, the son of William and Mary (Grady) Gavin.
John never knew a stranger. He was an avid sports fan who could often be found writing stats in his notebooks, a dedicated Illini, Packers, and Twins fan.
Survivors include his fiancé, Brenda Camling; daughters, Mindy (Lamonia) Barksdale of Peoria, IL, Mary Gavin of Peoria, IL; son Tony (Beth) Gavin of Rochester, IL; sister Linda (Dan) Doyle of Monmouth, IL; grandchildren Elijah and Olivia Barksdale, Logan Gavin and Madi Franklin, Brooks and Grady Gavin; along with countless nieces, nephews and cousins; Brenda's family Amy (Brent) Wolber, Nathan (Joni) Camling, and Mary Cimino, grandkids Jessica Camling, Dustin (Dezi) Logan, Brook Logan, Ashley Camling, Tyler Camling, Amanda Camling, and Sarah Wolber, and one great-granddaughter, Kopelyn Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Gavin and infant brother Joseph. Our family is forever grateful to the two donors and their families who sacrificed so much to give him life.
A visitation will be on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St., Polo.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in either his name or the Polo Community School Distrct.
