MORRISON – Kathleen Faye Book, 77, of rural Morrison, IL, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL, after a year-long battle with cancer.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Bethesda Lutheran Church with Rev. Tammy S. Anderson, officiating. Interment will be at Franklin Cemetery in rural Morrison. The Morrison chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
Kathleen was born April 5, 1944, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Walter and Hazel (Bushman) Oltman. She graduated from Lyndon High School and attended Northern Illinois University. Kathleen married Roy Lee Book on September 19, 1964, in Rock Falls, IL. She worked beside her husband on the family farming operation. Kathleen also worked as a bookkeeper at banks in Chadwick and Mt. Carroll until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison and enjoyed singing in the choir. Kathleen was involved in Home Extension and was a founding member of the Silver Lining Investment Club. She loved working on her family's genealogy with her sisters and was an exceptional seamstress. Kathleen enjoyed traveling with friends and family and spending time with her granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee; daughter, Kolleen (Doug) Pannier of Morrison; granddaughters, Lauren Pannier of Milan, IL, and Kelly Pannier of Morrison; and sisters, Lois Schroeder of Lyndon, IL and Joyce (Doug) Taylor of Bettendorf, IA.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kevin Lee Book; and one sister in infancy, Karen Oltman.
