Stephen L. Boyenga
Born: February 11, 1971 in Dixon, IL
Died: April 12, 2022 in Oregon, IL
Stephen Lewis Boyenga, 51, of Sterling peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. He was born to Robert and Cindy (Wellman) Boyenga on February 11, 1971 in Dixon, IL and was a 1989 graduate from Dixon High School. He participated in Special Olympics while in high school and attended workshop and day programs at Kreider Services and later Self Help Enterprises throughout most of his adult life. Known affectionately as "Stevie" and "Bo" by many, he was known for his wonderful smile and kind spirit and he enjoyed watching TV, dancing and listening to music, going on vacations, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, sister Stephanie (Ryan) McLean of Sterling, brother Matt Boyenga of Sterling, and nephews Jeremy Pierce of Normal and Sean McLean of Sterling as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dear friends at Casa Willis in Sterling. Following cremation, a celebration of life service will be held at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy on Monday April 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memories and messages of condolences can be shared through Mihm-Jones Funeral Home at https://www.thejonesfh.com/. Memorials will be established to the Lee Center First Congregational UCC and to the Casa Willis group home. His family wishes to express a very heartfelt thank you to the staff in the CGH CCU, Serenity Hospice, and Pastor Jack Briggs for the excellent care given to Stevie.
