Theodore J. Ashley, 78 of Rock Falls died Saturday November 9, 2024 at KSB Hospital in Dixon.
He was born on November 23, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Howard Miles and Dorothy Anne (Nelson) Ashley. He attended Rock Falls grade schools and was a 1964 graduate of Rock Falls High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Navy from 1964-1968. He married Vicki Sulouff on March 27, 1966 in Rock Falls. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co as a pipefitter for 30 years. He then worked at the former Lake View Golf Course in greens maintenance and drove a charter bus for 10 years. He had played in two World Series fast pitch soft ball tournaments for Town and Country sponsored by John Long. He enjoyed golfing, relaxing and was a CUBS fan. He was a member of the Sterling American Legion Post 296.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki; daughters: Heather (Tim) McGinn, Becky (Toby) Handel, Jennifer (Ryan) Ashley, Shauna (Ruben) Contreras; his son Brian Ashley; his sister Donna Jean Pennington; 8 grandchildren: Ashely McGinn, Sydney McGinn, Matthew Handel, Jenna Handel, Brandon Contreras, Sadie Contreras, Taylor Ashley, Andrew Ashley; 2 great grandchildren: Baker Morgan and Eleanor Morgan; and his lifelong friend Phil Masini
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Bobby; grandson Cameron Ashley and granddaughter Kaylee McGinn.
Visitation will be held on Friday November 15, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow on Saturday at 10 AM. Military honors will conclude the services at the funeral home.
