STERLING - Yolanda DeLaFuente, age 84, died at home Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Yolanda was born on January 15, 1941 in Houston, TX the daughter of Porfirio and Eulogia (Reyes) Celestino. She married Juan DeLaFuente on March 4, 1961in Rock Falls. Yolanda was employed with General Electric in Morrison for 30 years retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was active on the Alter & Rosary Society, GEM Club and GE Retirees. Yolanda was known to be found at El Jacalito in Sterling every Thursday for lunch.
Survivors include her husband, Juan of Sterling; two daughters, Elizabeth (John) Hollis of Freeport and Estella (Jeff) Allen of Shannon; one son, Elias DeLaFuente of Sterling; one stepson Juan DeLaFuente, Jr. of Pharr, TX; twelve grandchildren, Gerald (Morgan) Hollis, Spencer (Emily) Hollis, Elliott (Haley) Hollis, David Joe "Moe" Crocker, Jr., Seth (Talia) Allen, Bodi (Nicole) Allen, Everardo Ramirez, Jr., Jaimie Ramirez, Blake DeLaFuente, Bradley DeLaFuente, Juan DeLaFuente III, Nallely DeLaFuente, her best friend Andrea Kempel. Many nieces & nephews. Niece Josie Roche, caretaker and all those who met her became family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Sabas Celestino, Emilio Celestino, Ricardo Celestino and Eddie Celestino; three sisters, Felicitas Ranjel, Hortensia Roche and Carmen Munoz; two stepsisters, Martina Lemon and Celedonia DeLaCerda.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling, Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend J. Robert Camacho officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following mass.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
