Alan Giles Obituary

Alan Porter 'Tad' Giles - METTER - Alan Porter 'Tad' Giles passed from this mortal coil on Monday October 28, 2013. He was born on October 4, 1978 at Piedmont Hospital. Tad was 35 years old and a native of Atlanta. He attended The Heiskell School; St. Martin's in the Field; Wesleyan Academy and graduated from Dunwoody High School. He attended Shorter College in Rome, Georgia on the Hope Scholarship. Tad was also a gifted guitar player, both electric and acoustical and studied under a well known professional guitar player, Peter Stroud. He played in several bands in Atlanta at many different venues. Tad was the only child of Alan Richard Giles and Angela Porter Giles. He grew up in the Dunwoody community of Atlanta and was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his Godparents, Susan and William Reeves of Suwanee, Georgia. He moved to Buckhead with his parents in 2005. Tad was a kind, sensitive, loving young man who was generous to a fault. He was our life and our hearts are broken. Goodnight sweet prince; and flights of Angels take thee to thy rest. A private family graveside service and burial will be conducted by Rev. Hank Steverson of The Christian Family Center on Saturday, November 2, 2013 11:00 AM, at the Lake Church Cemetery in Metter, Georgia. The pallbearers will be cousins of the deceased. Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Metter Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Atlanta Community Food Bank 732 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd NW. Atlanta, Ga. 30313-6628, or a charity of your choice. It has been several years ago now, but I remember Tad when he was 9-10 years old. I was so shocked to learn of his passing. My heart and prayers go up for you two. I remember Tad loved the violin. I would have loved to hear him play his wonderful music. I happen to receive the President's Report and found out through the magazine. I also graduated from Gordon with my Nursing degree in 1997. I can not even begin to imagine what y'all have been through. May God bless you Alan and Angie!

Mr. and Mrs. Giles -

I went to high school with Tad and knew him as well as you very well. I have not spoken to Tad for many years. However, I will never forget him. He was one of the kindest people I have ever known. He was funny, witty and never said anything unless it was a kind word. This is how I will remember him. I am so sorry for your loss.
