Alex Anderson Obituary

Alex Earl Anderson, Sr. - SAVANNAH - Alex Earl Anderson, Sr., 91, husband of the late Will Ella Blackburn Anderson, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center surrounded by his daughter and his son. He was born March 6, 1922 in Screven County, Georgia, son of William Capers Anderson and Mary Agnes Mincey. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired senior vice president and part owner of Barton Brands Limited. In 1983, he was appointed to the Governors Council by Joe Frank Harris. He was a member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church, Savannah Jaycees, Thunderbolt Lodge #693 Master Mason, and the Alee Temple Patrol and Jesters. Surviving are his daughter Kim Hanning (Chuck), son Alex Earl Anderson, Jr. (Donna Oliver), brother W.C. Anderson, brother-in-law James B. Blackburn, Sr. (Mercer), sister-in-law Christine Holmes, five grandchildren David Morrison (Becky), Lori Mallard (Brandon), Stacey Fraelle (Andy), Stephanie Burch (Matt) and Marah Redden, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Ardsley Park Baptist Church and will be conducted by Reverend Buddy Clay. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matt Burch, Andy Fraelle, Brandon Mallard, Alex Burch, Taylor Burch, Phillip Scroggin and David Morrison. The family suggests that any remembrances be made in his memory to Alee Shriners Morris Slotin Fund, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416, or to Ardsley Park Baptist Church. I was so shocked and sad to hear about Mr. Andersons passing. I just loved meeting him and seeing him in the halls at Savannah Commons. He was so kind and such a wonderful soul. He will be missed!

To the surviving members of Mr. Anderson, please accept my heart felt condolences. You, the community, and even the state has lost a great statesman. I will always cherish the fond memories collected over the years of my acquaintance with Mr. & Mrs. Anderson.
