Charles Robert Thomson, Sr.
Savannah and Atlanta
Robbie was born in Savannah on 17th of April, 1939 in the Telfair Hospital to Katie Daniel Thomson and William G. Thomson. He died in Atlanta on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
He attended the public schools in Savannah. While in Charles Ellis Elementary School, he participated in the athletic program conducted by the late Tom Moore in Daffin Park. This began his lifelong interest in baseball, football, and basketball. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1957. He was a student at Armstrong Junior College until transferring to the University of Georgia in 1959, where he graduated in June 1962. He was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity.
In November 1962, he married the former Miss. Kathryn Etheridge of Atlanta. He was a former member of the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Georgia. Before moving to Atlanta, he was a communicant of St. John's Church.
He is survived by four children, Charles Robert Thomson, Jr. (Libbie), Sally Thomson, Kathryn Dillingham Thomson and Frank Etheridge Thomson; three grandchildren, Kathryn Rose Thomson, Jennifer Ansley Thomson, and Bradley Daniel Thomson, and a brother in Savannah, E. William Thomson.
A private family service will be held in Savannah at a date to be determined.

Charles was Robbie to his St Simons Friends. He loved hanging out at the beach with his friends and dog, Rascal. My thoughts and prayers to the family. He always had a smile on his face and has been missed.
