Dorothy Sheahan Obituary

Dorothy Dot Starks Sheahan - SAVANNAH - Dorothy Dot Starks Sheahan, 86, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of James Thomas Chuck Sheahan, Sr., died Wednesday morning, November 2, 2016, at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond Hill. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Starks and the late Barbara Krug Starks Setliffe. Mrs. Sheahan was a longtime communicant of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist where she volunteered at the Cathedral Day School and served on the Altar Committee. After moving to Coffee Bluff she and her husband spent many hours helping at the Carmelite Monastery. Mrs. Sheahan loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband of 53 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Rosemarie Sheahan and Mary Sheahan Parrish. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia S. Templeton and Elizabeth S. Doepp (Barry); five sons, James T. Sheahan, Jr., Joseph D. Sheahan (Terry), Michael A. Sheahan (Donna), Christopher A. Sheahan (Rene'), and Timothy J. Sheahan (Tricia); twenty-six grandchildren; twenty great-grandsons; one sister, Mary Ammatuna; one brother, Thomas Setliffe (Barbara), and a number of nieces and nephews. The vigil service will be held at 6 o'clock Friday evening in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service with the family receiving friends afterwards until 8 o'clock. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Anne Catholic Church - 10550 Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill conducted by Father Allan J. McDonald and Father Joseph A. Smith. Interment will be at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. She lived her last six years at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation and the family is grateful to the staff for the love and wonderful care given to Mrs. Sheahan. Our family grew up, on N.Y. Ave, 2 houses down from this beautiful family, before they moved “downtown”..I can remember, so vividly, Dot, my mother’s friend. She was a complete joy to be around. Her little girls were my playmates.. One thing that stands out, in my mind, is that she was always singing. It amazed me, how she radiated God’s sweet spirit..I’m so thankful to have known her and her whole family. My apologies for just now seeing this bittersweet news..
I know she must be singing, now, so sweetly in Heaven..♥
